Integrate with Asana

When you connect Panobi with Asana, you'll be able to easily import issues from Asana to Panobi, without the tedious, time-consuming work of manual transfer.

Initial setup

If you're the first member of your workspace to connect Panobi with Asana, follow the steps below. Not sure? Follow steps 1 and 2 to determine the answer.

  1. Navigate to Settings

    Click on Settings in the left navigation, and then click on Integrations under your workspace name.

  2. Open the Asana integration

    Find Asana in the list of Available integrations. Not seeing it? If it's found instead in the list of Connected integrations, this means someone else in your workspace has connected it already — skip to Individual authentication. If it's in Available integrations, select it and navigate to the Configuration tab.

  3. Connect with Asana

    Click the Connect button and follow the instructions for authorizing Asana to transfer information to Panobi.

  4. Configure filtering

    Click Configure in the Filtering section. Then choose the organization or workspace you'd like Panobi to access in Asana, along with any teams (if relevant), and click Save.

    Note: Adding teams is optional, but can help to filter task results when importing.


  5. Configure field mapping

    Click Configure in the Field mapping section. You'll see the two pre-mapped, required mappings.

    To save additional time when importing work, you can add custom mappings: click +Add mapping, and select corresponding pairs from the Panobi and Asana dropdowns.

    Some options will require further mapping, if they are fields that offer dropdowns of their own, such as Audience.

    You can remove individual mappings by clicking the X to the right, or remove all of them by clicking Clear all mappings.

    Click Save when you've finished.


Individual authentication

If Asana has already been added to your team's list of connected integrations by one of your teammates, follow the steps below so you can use the integration, too.

  1. Navigate to Settings

    Click on Settings in the left navigation, and then click on Integrations under your workspace name.

  2. Open the Asana integration

    Find Asana in the list of Connected integrations. Select it and navigate to the Configuration tab.

  3. Authenticate your account

    Click the Authenticate button and follow the instructions for authorizing Asana to transfer information to Panobi.

  4. Configure filtering

    Click Configure in the Filtering section. Then choose the organization or workspace you'd like Panobi to access in Asana, along with any teams (if relevant), and click Save.

    Note: Adding teams is optional, but can help to filter task results when importing.


  5. Configure field mapping

    Since someone else on your team has already connected Asana, you'll inherit field mappings from them. However, if you'd like to make changes (these will affect only your configuration), you can click Edit.

    In the window that pops up, you'll see two pre-mapped, required field mappings, as well as any custom mappings added by a member of your workspace. You can add your own custom mappings: click +Add mapping, and select corresponding pairs from the Panobi and Asana dropdowns.

    Some options will require further mapping, if they are fields that offer dropdowns of their own, such as Audience.

    Click Save when you've finished.

You’re all set! If you ever need to change the filtering or field mapping configuration, de-authenticate, or remove the Asana integration, the Configuration tab in your settings is the place to do it.
